The George F. Russell Jr. Hall is a six-story 64,000 s.f. mixed-used project hat houses office, retail, apartment and parking. Located near the University of Washington, it offers Green Living options for University students in 30 studio or one-bedroom apartments on two floors, street level retail and office space, and below grade parking. Key energy conservation and green processes utilized to achieve LEED Gold certification include:
- Storm water retention to water onsite plantings and reducing water runoff through the implementation of a green roof.
- Waterless urinzls, dual flush toilets, and water-efficient showerheads reduce potable water use.
- 95% diversion of construction waste from landfills
- 10% of construction materials were from recyled sources.
Hermanson was responsible for all levels of mechanical design, support of the LEED Certification process, and Plumbing and HVAC (Sheet Metal and Piping) construction.
