Heavy Metal Summer Experience students at Hermanson

HEAVY METAL SUMMER EXPERIENCE

In 2021, Hermanson partnered with Western Allied Mechanical, SMACNA-Western Washington, and Construction for Change to launch the Heavy Metal Summer Experience (HMSE). HMSE is a six-week immersive program introducing high school students and recent graduates to the building trades industry.

As a founding member of HMSE, Hermanson hosts students every summer, providing:

  • Hands-on construction experience
  • Mentorship from industry professionals
  • Exposure to skilled trades careers

Today, HMSE operates in more than 50 camps across North America and Canada, helping the next generation explore careers in plumbing, pipefitting, sheet metal, and mechanical contracting.

HERMANSON INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

Our paid internship program offers a three-month immersive experience in mechanical contracting and construction management.

Interns gain:

  • Exposure to active construction projects
  • Mentorship from experienced professionals
  • Real-world skills in project management, engineering, and trade operations

This program equips students with the tools and industry insight needed to launch a successful career in the A/E/C industry.
