Abcam Labatories
30,000 sf | Eugene, Oregon | Critical Environments | Oregon
Hermanson’s Eugene team recently completed a full mechanical tenant improvement expansion of a bio-medical research lab for Abcam Labs, an mRNA cellular research firm. The office-to-lab conversion included a 10,000 sf clean room, reverse osmosis / de-ionized water piping systems, and specialty lab gas piping. The project also included multiple specialty phoenix valves - special air valves meant for infection control in labs/healthcare to ensure the indoor air quality of the cleanroom environment and specialty lab fume hoods that exhaust dangerous gas emissions put out during the synthesizing process.
Constructed in the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, supply chain issues resulted in a compressed startup and commissioning schedule. Hermanson worked closely with controls contractors, vendors and the client to turn over the lab space as quickly as possible. The facility opened in 2021.
