Washington State Public Health Labs

20,000 sf | Shoreline, Washington | Critical Environments

Hermanson participated in a public bid for a preliminary remodel of the Washington State Public Health Labs in Shoreline. Through this process, Health Labs staff became aware of our experience in the construction of Life-Sciences labs and acute care hospitals. This led them to contract with us to provide preconstruction services for the next phase of work, the replacement of HVAC systems in critical lab spaces.

Hermanson worked with the owner and design team to develop several phases of estimates, constructability review, and construction phasing plans. Unique clean room and bio-lab criteria was (BSL-3) necessary due to the materials handled within the lab, and it was of the highest priority that construction work did not disrupt operations of the lab, which provides diagnostic and analytical services for assessment and surveillance of infectious, communicable, genetic, and chronic diseases and environmental health concerns. Following the preconstruction effort, Hermanson successfully participated in an open public bid and completed construction acting as General Contractor.
