Astoria School District

Varied sf | Astoria, Oregon | Infrastructure & Public Works | Oregon

With school buildings constructed as early as the 20’s, 50’s, and 60’s Astoria School District schools were due for much-needed updates to their infrastructure and mechanical systems. The Hermanson Team was eager to once again offer expertise in renovating educational facilities to create modern learning environments for Astoria School District.

Sazan Group completed project designs, and Hermanson was selected as the Mechanical/Plumbing Trade Partner through a proposal and interview process for phased renovations of three Astoria School District facilities – the 1950’s High School, the 1969 Middle School, and the 1924 Primary School. The scope of work included perimeter HVAC fan coil units, ductwork, exhaust fans, boilers, pumps, and piping. All together, the project’s mechanical system upgrades were budgeted at $5.5 million across the three school buildings.

Hermanson worked closely with long-term partners Sazan and Skanska to maximize the District's dollars to upgrade the HVAC systems and prepare the schools for returning students. Renovations will be completed in early 2022 after two years of project work during school down time.
