When Hermanson Service Foreman, John Beck, was growing up he wanted to be an architect.

“I soon realized how stationary that job would be, so I turned to HVAC instead,” says John, “I love this trade and have for 20 years!”

John considers himself an almost native, having lived in the Olympia area for the last 32 years. He went off to Phoenix to attend Universal Technical Institute to learn HVAC systems for a year, then returned to the Pacific Northwest.

Hermanson Service Technician, Keith Black, exemplified this quote recently when he stopped by his high school alma mater, Puget Sound Skills Center (PSSC) in Burien, hoping to talk to students about his career path since graduation.

His visit was timely and Keith along with Service Sales Rep, Cori Witney, were asked to participate in PSSC’s annual spring Hiring Fair last week.

Local middle school students at Mill Creek are benefiting from a call their science teacher, Steven Basten, recently made to Hermanson Company.

“The first metal work company I contacted was Hermanson and the receptionist knew exactly who I should talk to within the organization,” said Basten. That call led to Ryan Leonhardt, Hermanson Specialty Metals foreman, who despite his 18 years of metal work experience had never received a request quite like Basten’s.
