HMSE Featured in Forbes: Forging Futures in the Trades

Sep 9, 2025 | Community Involvement

The Heavy Metal Summer Experience (HMSE), co-founded by Hermanson Company, was recently recognized in Forbes Magazine for its innovative approach to preparing young people for careers in the skilled trades.

Launched in 2021 by Hermanson Company, Western Allied Mechanical, and SMACNA-Western Washington, HMSE was created to introduce high school students and recent graduates to the building trades through real-world, hands-on learning.

Each summer, participants take part in a six-week program that combines jobsite experience, mentorship, and career exploration. What began as a pilot program has grown into a meaningful opportunity for students to explore alternatives to traditional college pathways while gaining valuable skills and confidence.

This recognition would not be possible without the dedication of our Hermanson team members. A special thank you goes to all of our employees who volunteer their time to mentor and guide our campers during the program.
