Hermanson Teams Up with Panasonic Energy for EV Battery Facility

Hermanson is constructing a state-of-the-art electric vehicle (EV) battery manufacturing facility for Panasonic Energy in De Soto, Kansas.

In partnership with Waldinger, we’ve been entrusted with the full mechanical scope, including planning, fabrication, and installation of sheet metal, process piping, and plumbing systems across the 5.5-million-square-foot facility. This collaboration highlights our seamless integration and commitment to efficiency and quality.

Once complete, the facility will increase Panasonic Energy’s global capacity by 60%, contributing to the growth of the electric vehicle market worldwide.

Innovation in Mechanical Construction

A key component of this project involves Hermanson fabricating over 60,000 feet of pipe, which is pre-assembled and shipped from Hermanson's 120,000 sf state-of-the-art facilities in Washington to Kansas.

To optimize logistics and minimize on-site staging, prefabrication efforts include 40-foot racked piping systems. Working directly with the general contractor and other subcontractors, these pre-built racks are designed to be off-loaded and installed on the same day, ensuring a streamlined construction process.

This streamlined process is critical in mechanical construction as it reduces on-site labor, minimizes delays, enhances quality control, and lowers the risk of safety incidents.

A Commitment to Sustainability and Efficiency

As a company, Hermanson is dedicated to supporting sustainable industries. The Panasonic Energy project reflects our technical expertise and ongoing commitment to the future of green technology and renewable energy.
