Craig Atkinson grew up in South King County. Surrounded by family in the industry, from an early age, he spent time walking job sites and learning what the work meant.

Initially, he planned to follow in his father’s footsteps as a carpenter, but after his father passed away from cancer, Craig found his way into the plumbing trade through Local 32. What started as a different direction quickly became a career he’s built over the last 20 years.

Today, Craig serves as a General Foreman on Hermanson’s Major Projects team. He is currently supporting several large-scale projects in the Seattle area.

Craig enjoys the complexity of the trade and takes pride in the role plumbing plays in maintaining healthy, sanitary environments for the community. 

As he puts it, “The plumbing trade is complex and humbling by nature. If you take care of it, it will take care of you.”

For Craig, the most rewarding part of the job is building a plan with the team and seeing it through. He values strong communication and believes that when a team is aligned, even the most difficult challenges become manageable. He focuses on making sure his team has the time, information, and resources they need to succeed.

When asked about his work, Craig points to the Lakefront Blocks as a standout project. The experience on the job showed him how strong leadership and teamwork can overcome challenges that once seemed impossible. It also gave him a deeper appreciation for the collaboration across departments that makes that success possible.

Outside of work, Craig stays busy with his family. He and his wife Ashley have been together for 22 years and have three kids: Markus (13), Marley (8), and Mathias (5). Most of their time is spent at practices, games, and events, from football and cheer to softball, wrestling, and track. They also have several pets, Millie (black lab), Harmony (tortoise), and two cats, Mufasa and Bagheera.

Craig brings a steady, thoughtful approach to the job and team. We are lucky to have him!
