Inspiring the Next Generation: HMSE Returns to Hermanson for Year Six

Hermanson Company once again welcomed Heavy Metal Summer Experience (HMSE) to our Kent, WA headquarters, marking our sixth year as a host.

Launched in 2021 as a pilot program in partnership between Western Allied and Hermanson, HMSE has since grown into a nationwide movement. Today, the program spans more than 50 camps across the U.S. and Canada, each dedicated to giving students hands-on exposure to careers in the mechanical, electrical, and sheet metal trades.

This year, Hermanson welcomed 18 local high school students for four weeks of immersive, hands-on learning. Working side by side with Hermanson professionals, campers gained real-world experience in sheet metal, piping, electrical, detailing, and more. From tool safety to the fundamentals of fabrication, students saw firsthand what it takes to build and maintain the systems that keep buildings running.
